Happy April, Fool ! (Mr. T)

track in temporary bodywork! I'm not sure what the tech inspectors will think, but the car is ready and track worthy. If I happen to scare myself on the first lap and soil something… well, I'm prepared for that too!!!

Great news!!! The 41 has been restored and is ready for track test and its first event in 3 years!
As readers of the Crapman Retort have followed the long winding road to the resurrection of my Lotus 41 know that obtaining a new chassis was extremely painful and expensive. A number of the original parts were destroyed in the shunt and needed to be replaced by cheaper more obtainable substitute parts.
As I have been rebuilding the 41 I found many of the parts to be damaged beyond repair and even worse have become unobtainium!! An example was a cracked front wheel. Being magnesium the wheel was trash. This left only 3 good wheels, unless a suitable replacement was found.

The once pristine bodywork, gorgeous white gel-coat fiberglass was in shards post wreck. Over the past 2 years I've tried to piece it back together, but with the cold winter weather I've had to delay progress. But, with the chassis coming back together I looked for a quick substitute that I could temporarily use. Fortunately I found suitable materials behind my garage! Had to scare away some spiders and stuff, but it went together nicely and quickly!
The cockpit was pretty well wasted in the wreck, the driver's seat in pieces. Again, a quick look behind the garage and I had an instant fix!
This was exciting! What I thought was going to be a long drawn out process of restoration was coming together in weeks! By April 1st I could be on the
