Europa's gauge saw some higher than usual temps, but only toward the end of each session, so I feel like I cheated the heat each time I went out.
I want to thank Daren Stone and John Zender for helping organize this event as well as helping out with various other duties while I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off.  I'd also like to thank all those who helped out with tech inspection and coaching, such as Mike Ostrov, Dick Ryan, Joel Lipkin, Jean-Claude Gauthier, Tom Railton, and Dave Platt, you guys really helped out and we appreciate it!
Before I go, I think I should point out that the next meeting is the dreaded "nominations" meeting.  So, if you plan on being president or any of the other officers, just don't show up to the meeting and we'll make sure you're on the list.  Happy Lotusing!

Scott

If you got your Chapman Report late this month, it was probably all my fault. There are lots of things going on right now and I still don't think I've fully recovered from the Lotus club track day at Thunderhill.  For those who attended, it was another great event.  The schedule was modified in the 11th hour since not as many people signed up as I had anticipated.  We originally had planned on three groups with five sessions, but after looking at how many people had track experience and how many people were in attendance, the schedule was changed to seven sessions with approximately 30 minutes for each session. As one satisfied customer has already said, we weren't short on track time!
The day wasn't without incident for me though, I took Tom Railton out for a few laps so he could give me some pointers and while on a flying lap I managed to drop a wheel off the track and it pitched the car. I tried to bring it back onto the track but things ended up getting a little out of shape.  Everything would have been fine as I simply spun the car, but I had opened the engine cover to check things out at lunch
time and forgot to latch it again. When I went around, the cover came up like an old Mercedes with air brakes. Snap, crackle, pop, went the engine cover.  So, I have a little work to do on the Europa now, which makes me  glad I went to Mike Ostrov's glass fibre seminar earlier this year!
Even though I damaged the car a little, it was worth every second as I had a fantastic time! It was great to have such a variety of cars out there as well.  We had Porsches, Vipers, a Ferrari, a couple of Lancia Scorpions, a couple of Alfas, Mustangs, and the usual variety of Lotuses.
I was reasonably happy with the weather since it was a constant fear of mine ever since we organized the event.  I had visions of overheating Lotuses all over the place, but the temperature wasn't bad at all. It was warm for sure, but at 9:00am it was like someone turned on a switch and the wind blew hard all day. It did well to keep things from getting worse as far as temps are concerned.  The
Scott Whitman about to show us what FWD can do.
