WCLM Rainier Drive & Griot's Garage

On the final day of the 2013 West Coast Lotus Meet a group of WCLMers arose early and met at the Red Lion for a 3 hour drive to the north side of Mt Rainier and then to the lunch at Griot's Garage in Tacoma. The remaining WCLMers crawled out of their beds experiencing a Lotus hangover from the previous 3 days of Lotusing!

The ones that got up early were treated to breath-taking vistas and superb Lotus roads. It seemed as if every turn in the road was yet another amazing view.

What's the theme song from "Gilligan's Island"? Something about a 3 hour tour? Well, it seemed that about half the group on the Rainier drive were so taken by the scenery that they opted to continue to go around the entire Park and mountain easily added another 2-3 hours onto their drive dooming them to be more than fashionably late to the lunch Griot's Garage. The other half continued on the original route and arrived at Griot's a the appointed time of 11am.

At Griot's we parked on their large grassy area where we were expecting a BBQ. But there were no hot BBQs courtesy of Griot's, in fact it was ominously quiet. It turned out that the folks at Griot's got their wires crossed-up. They thought we were bringing our own food. But quicking Chairman Doug got plan plan B into motion and pizza and sodas were ordered.

A Griot staff member ran us through a product demonstation and training of their clay bars, polishes, waxes and sealants.

Pizzas arrived and the group ate and started saying their goodbyes. Of course then the other half of the Rainier group finally arrived, hungry, thristy and hot.

No the less it was a great low-key ending to 4 amazing days of Lotusing. We thanked Doug with a shirt that we had signed and then we started scattering in different directions for travel home.
