I'm happy to report that Mike Ostrov has recently gotten Elite/Elan II on the road, and as of this printing has logged about 50 miles on the Twin-cam powered automatic car. First impressions are that it is somewhat sluggish in the performance department due to both the slush-box and the weight gain associated with modifying an Elite bodyshell to fit an Elan chassis, but knowing Mike he'll resolve that little problem.
Unfortunately I also have to report that Mike's shop was recently robbed. Thankfully none of the cars were bothered but all of the hand tools, tune up gear, some loose Climax parts and personal Lotus collectibles are gone. Mike is particularly interested in finding his steering wheel collection that consisted of 12 examples from Elites, Sevens and Elans.  If anyone hears of these items being offered for sale please contact Mike at mikeostrov@webtv.net  so he may begin rebuilding his collection.
Speaking of Elites, I'm happy to report that thanks to Mike, Flemming Larsen, Earl Webster, Jon Rosner and John Lexau, mine is now completely disassembled. Tentative plans are to finish the remaining glasswork at Mike's shop before bringing it home. Stay tuned for the full report next month.
The reason there has not been more progress is that my attention has been distracted by a Jensen-Healey that recently joined the family. One of my older brother's "good deals", I offered to check it over & make it roadworthy before he collects it. In retrospect it was probably a better parts car than a rebuilder, but regardless, it is now a driver and I know more about 907s than I ever thought I would. Now back to my cars.
In other news please note in the "Lotus cars for sale" section on page 8 that Alan Perry is ready to part with his TC Europa. Knowing Alan and this car for many years I can say that it is present it is in the best mechanical condition it has been in for some time, and whoever gets it will get a good solid Lotus. I'll let Alan tell you all what he is looking to replace it with.
And Europa owners; check your fuel lines ! Last week I was traveling one of our local highways and ended up behind a flatbed truck carrying what looked to be the remains of a bonfire. Only when I pulled alongside to pass could I tell that it had once been a TC Europa ! I can only speculate what  happened, but I know that the original plastic fuel lines are a fire hazard so do yourself a favor & upgrade.
Also spotted on a Bay Area highway recently was a black & yellow  Seven/Cateham, Oregon plates and no windscreen, it's occupants both wearing full-face helmets ! I wonder what their story is ?
