Rules For Thunderhill
Passing RulesGroup A - Fast Group
Passing is allowed anywhere on the track with no point-by except through the cyclone (turn 5). Passing is
allowed in braking zones and through turns, but "racing" into turns is not allowed. If someone is attempting
to pass you, you must allow him to do so. It is the responsibility of the passing driver to make a safe pass.
It is the responsibility of the driver being passed to watch his mirrors, be aware of faster cars, and give
the passer room to make a safe pass. When the passing driver is side-by-side with the passee, the passee must
give up the line to the passer.
Group B - Not So Fast
Passing is allowed on the three main straights with no point-by. Passes must be completed before entering
the brazing zone. This includes between turns 15 and 1, 9 and 10, 13 and 14. The driver being passed should
lift momentarily on the accelerator to allow the passer to get by more easily. Passing is allowed anywhere else
on the track (including turns and braking zones) with a point-by except through the cyclone (turn 5). Only 1
car is allowed to pass for each point-by. Drivers must maintain a minimum of 2 car lengths distance between
themself and the car in front of them at all times. The two car length rule does not apply through the Cyclone
since cars normally get bunched up there.
Other rules.
1. If you spin or go 4-wheels-off, you are driving over your head and will be warned.
2. If you spin or go 4-wheels-off twice, you will be asked to sit around for a while and think about why you can't
control yourself.
3. If you spin or go 4-wheels-off three times, you will not be allowed to drive for the remainder of the day.
4. If you spin or go 4-wheels-off in the first session, you will have to wear the "BOZO" sign on the back of your car until the lunch break.
5. After the first session for each group is finished, all drivers are allowed to drive in either or both
groups at their own discretion. You must observe the passing rules of the group on track.
6. Drivers with less than 5 previous track days experience are not allowed to drive in group A unless they
have been OK'd by one of our instructors.
7. First time track drivers must go out with an instructor for at least their first session.
